A lot of hard work, and a lot of maturity later, Casey is only a test away from his brown belt.  As with a lot of younger Karate Students, Casey's focus wasn't the best his first few belts, but he has seriously changed and excelled recently and is all business.
     Power, attitude, work ethic and sweat are all now a part of every class Casey takes part in.  His martial arts material also reflect his newfound commitment and you can't help but notice him among his fellow students.
     He is now waiting for his Brown Belt Board Test to be scheduled, but have no fear, with his training habits Casey should have no problems powering his way through the test.   Great job Casey, keep up the good work.

     Last year was the first time we did a Karate Demo at the Buffalo Bison's baseball diamond in downtown Buffalo.  It was for a good cause, "kids day", and even more importantly all of those involved had a BLAST!  
    There was a lot to do for everyone, from a free rock climbing wall, free hats from New Era and many other free events.  This years kids day is slated to be even better!  The Demo is on Saturday, June 6th at 4PM, and everyone who attends is welcome to stay for the Bison's baseball game at 7PM. 
     The price is $5.00 per person, but that price includes a LOT of cool freebies!  You can purchase tickets at the DOJO or when you arrive at the baseball diamond.  See you there!

      As of June 1st, students may wear their "Summer" Karate Uniforms.  This simply means that they may wear their Black UWMA Karate Tee Shirts instead of their Gi Tops.  They are still required to wear their Gi Pants, with their Tee Shirts neatly tucked inside.  Their Karate Belts are worn and tied as normal.  If the student wishes, he may still wear his Karate Gi as normal (Top & Bottoms). Please remember, ONLY UWMA Karate Tee shirts are accepted.

     Thanks to all our great students and their dedication to the Dojo, we are now able to start major construction on the back of the school.  Our goal is to have an additional training area to better serve our students and our expanding programs.  We will have new concrete installed in the back of the Dojo, along with new bathrooms.  The construction is scheduled to run from Monday, July 6th, thru Saturday, July 11th.  Unfortunately, due to the construction, we will have no restrooms during that week.  That is why the Dojo will be "Closed" during the construction.  We apologize for this disruption in your training, but Master Sanchez and Sensei Butch believe that this slight interruption will benefit the students in the end. 

                             
          

     A few small class changes are in effect from June 1st through August 31st:

9 - 12 Year Old  "beginner" class on Wednesday from 7PM to 7:45PM  has been "merged" with the 9-12 yr old class on Thursday at 6PM to 7PM.

ADULT  "Advanced" class on Tuesday's at 8PM has been moved one hour earlier to 7PM forming an "All Belts" adult class.

A NEW Instructor class has been added from 8PM to 9PM on Tuesday Nights!

K.I.C.K. Kickboxing on Wednesday's ONLY has been moved from 8PM to 7PM.

Everything else remains unchanged!  Have a great summer!

     Back by popular request is our Women's ONLY self defense seminar!  This will be a 2 hour class on a Saturday afternoon in June (time to be announced and decided by the ladies signed up) that no women should be without.  We will cover the hard core facts (thus the 18 and over age requirement) on women assaults with a large focus on rape.   This class is OPEN TO ALL women, no prior martial arts required.  You are also encouraged to bring a friend or relative that you think this class may benefit. 
     There is a $25 charge for this Self Defense Seminar and room for this class is limited, so if your interested register NOW.  Do yourself a favor and spend this two hours to help educate and ready yourself form something we all hope will never happen.  Hope to see you there.
