Jonathan. I could
probably simply end it with his name and we would need no further
explanation as to why he was chosen as 2009's first student of the
month.
We have known Sensei Jonathan since he was a young boy,
that is how long he has been practicing the martial arts.
He came to our school already a Black Belt in Issyun Ryu, but he
hungered for an even greater challenge. He was very talented
in the martial arts and wished to take his ability to the next
level, that is when he decided to start over as a white belt and
train at UWMA.
He excels at all facets of the martial arts, from
learning, practicing and even harder, teaching. Martial Arts
has went beyond the DOJO for Sensei Jonathan, and molded him into an
outstanding young man, and a very academically accomplished college
student.
Congratulations Sensei Jonathan, there is no better
student to start a new year with. It has always been a
pleasure to teach you, and it makes us very proud when we see the
enjoyment you derive from also passing your information on as one of
our best instructors. Practice hard.

Congratulations to Dan M. for receiving the
awesome prestige award of Student of the Year for 2008!
Dan, as you can see from his 2003 student of the month picture
below, has been with us since the day we opened. You can see
the intensity in his expression 5 years ago, that intensity never
wavered, if anything, it blossomed. Grats Dan on being chosen
over a LOT of other qualified students, we know you will wear the
crown with dignity and honor. Can't wait to see what the next
5 years has in stored for you!

THANK
YOU SO VERY MUCH!
We wanted to wish a sincere
THANK YOU to
everyone who helped us make our holiday and also our Christmas
Party a little brighter for all. Thanks for all the
dessert trays and special thanks to Nathan Henry for all the
poinsettia plants at the party!
In case we missed a personal thank you, we also wanted to
thank everyone for their thoughtful gifts. More important
than the gifts themselves were the personal cards attached.
We have a LOT of fun at what we do, and it is always nice to
know that we are appreciated. Thanks to everyone, you
truly are our "Dojo Family".
