This is a first! We were able to choose two students of the
month at once! Usually choosing a student of the month is a
very hard thing to do, seeing that there are so many great Karate
students to choose from and that we can only choose one, but this
month was unique.
The student we decided on this month was Tracy, from
our adult program. She has been a very dedicated student, even
before being a student! Prior to taking Karate, she was an
active member or our Cardio Kickboxing program, and she then also
added our Karate program to her agenda, and gave Karate the same
work ethic she gave kickboxing, 100%. We had our student of
the month all set, now all we had to do is see when her daughter,
Alison, was student of the month so we could mention it in
Tracy's article... so I looked it up... looked again... our mistake.
Somehow Alison was never chosen.
I actually had to go over the past records a half dozen
times before I believed it myself. Alison was mistakenly
overlooked. Allison is currently one of our higher ranking
little dragons at the rank of green belt. She may not be a
very large person physically, but she is very large in heart.
Even though she is very young, she has made many impressions upon
us: Never once has she ever had to be disciplined for any
reason, ever, she is always smiling, always working, always trying
her hardest and always bringing a smile to our faces. We
simply assumed she had been a student of the month before because
she simply had to be. She wasn't. Alison, please accept our apology,
you definitely earned student of the month, this month and many
past. Sorry Tracy, you'll have to wait until next month,
although you earned the title yourself, Allison earned the title
before you. To access our "Student of
the Month Archives", click below:
STUDENT OF THE MONTH |

As
of June 1st, students may wear their "Summer" Karate Uniforms.
This simply means that they may wear their Black UWMA Karate Tee
Shirts instead of their Gi Tops. They are still required to
wear their Gi Pants, with their Tee Shirts neatly tucked inside.
Their Karate Belts are worn and tied as normal. If the student
wishes, he may still wear his Karate Gi as normal (Top & Bottoms).
Please remember, ONLY UWMA Karate Tee shirts are accepted. |

In June, UWMA will be having it's first
"Fitness Challenge". A chance for ALL our students to improve
their overall health. This will be a short, "personal" test,
where you will be able to measure your current physical being, and
compare it to results in July.
Our goal is to hopefully push the people in our Dojo to
push themselves into finding the time to increase their fitness
levels during the summer months, when we tend to slack off a tad on
our workout habits. Good luck to all, and I hope you see the
results in July that WE know you can get.
