Erica is not one not one for the limelight (she didn't
even like the attention of getting her picture taken), but her
actions on the dojo floor cannot be allowed to go unnoticed. Erica
has been a constant force on the dojo floor and an friend and
inspiration to all other female karate students in our adult karate
program since the first day she stepped into our karate school.
Some people are like shooting stars, burning brightly at any
given time, while others are like the North Star, burning brightly
and constant every time you look upon them... Erica is like the
latter. The shooting star stands out at given times, and are
hard to miss when you look upon them at the right time... while the
other may go unnoticed because they are ever present, constantly
putting out the same high intensity... Erica, we would never let you
go unnoticed.
I'll keep the closing short, since your not one for
attention or praise, stay on the path your on. The world is
full of "shooting stars", but their is only one North Star.
Persistence, consistency and intensity can overcome anything, throw
that in with a superb personality and you have the perfect mix. To access our "Student of
the Month Archives", click below:

Our Halloween
"Workout" makes it's Fourth return!
Date: Friday, October 26th.
Times:
Little Ninja's - Normal Class Time.
5:15 to 5:45.
Little Dragons & 9 - 12 Year Olds COMBINED!
6PM to 7:30PM.
Our "Spooky" yearly event is only
a few short weeks away... and rumors have it that the "Fun House" will be even
bigger and scarier than last year.. which is no easy feat!
COSTUMES!
COSTUMES! COSTUMES! Everyone is highly recommended to
come in Costume, NOT Gi. This is actually a Halloween Party,
not a "workout". Just as previous years, the Dojo will supply
the treats and more importantly, the fun!
Although the emphasis is on fun, and we will mainly be
doing things like obstacle courses and such, the students will still
be required to be able to "move around' a good amount. Any
costumes are welcome, but ones enabling movement are preferred. But
Fear Not! "Masks" or other costume parts inhibiting movement or
visibility can simply be removed while the student is active.
We had a LOT of parents asking if they could donate
candy for the party... this year the answer is a resounding YES!
We need LOTS of candy. Last year it took us over 3 hours to
simply stuff the bags to give to the kids... so anyone wishing to
donate candy please do so (all that we ask is that it is in sealed
bags please). Also, if you have any old Halloween decorations
that your were thinking of tossing, send them our way, we may revive
them and put them to good use. PLEASE! Try to have all
candy or other donations handed in to us by Wednesday, October 24th
at the latest, it takes us a LOT of of time to prepare all the candy
bags for all the kids. For those parents who attended
previous years, you know the effort (and FUN!) we put into the
Halloween party, for those first timers.. your in for a real treat.
See You There!

It's that time already! In a few
short weeks UWMA's annual Christmas party makes an
anticipated return!
Date/Time:
Saturday, December 15th, 5PM - ?
Place:
Oakwood Manor, Lakeview Road, The place with the Tank, Jet and
Helicopter out front, and across the street from the
Hamburg Town Arena.
Cost:
Anyone 5 or younger: $7.00
All Students
(ages 6 and up): $12.00
Non-Students:
$15.00
Our "once a year
get-together" and greatly
anticipated "family fun" Christmas Party is in the planning stages
already. As in previous years, we will
supply an all
you can eat buffet, from the same caterer as last year, because of
the awesome feedback we received on the food.
Again, as far as beverages, we will still have a variety of
free pops available at the bar and alcohol will also be available
and ran as a "cash bar".
As always, myself and Master Sanchez
put in a lot of effort to attempt to make sure a family could attend and not "break the bank",
and we are already working hard this year to do so.
Oh, and don't forget, grandma and grandpa or other relatives are
welcome.
PLEASE register with us and show your interest in
attending As Soon As Possible! It
is very important that we know the number attending well in
advance of the event.
This is our once a year party, and if it goes half as
well as previous years, it will be a superb way to kick start
Christmas! We hope you can ALL attend.
We don't get to mingle often on a "non-karate" basis, and I know the
time spent together all year long in the Dojo forms close bonds
between a lot of people, and this is an incredible way to let loose
with our "Dojo friends and family".
Note: Santa is again, like last year,
rumored to attend! Also we will be awarding all 12 of this
years Students of the Month a special award, and not to mention our
"Student of the Year" and "Instructor of the Year" awards.
