Focus
of intensity. Kaitlyn. She has been a student of
ours for some time now, but that last few months, Kaitlyn has
showed a drastic "increase of intensity" above and beyond her
normal levels, which are always above average to begin with...
being a member of the Demo Team for a long time now should be
enough of a testament to her talent and intensity.
She pushes herself hard, both on and off the Dojo
floor. She shows the utmost respect to her instructors and
fellow students, and is well liked by all. She is
inquisitive when it comes to her training, and has the focus and
drive to make sure that she is not only throwing power and
attitude, but also practicing all her techniques properly with
good form.
Her pleasant smile is a permanent part of her
personality, but don't be fooled by it! In a quick,
outward glance you see Kaitlyn, the well liked, smiling teenage
girl, but if you know her like we do, and look deeper, you see a
well honed, focused young lady who has all the power required to
back up all her martial arts training. Congratulations
Kaitlynon being chosen Student of the Month, your
performance the past few months made our choice easy.

Back to our awesome normal uniforms! As of September 5th, all students must again wear their Karate Gi's, NOT their Karate T-Shirts.
Remember, a BLACK T-Shirt is still required to be worn
underneath your GI top. You can wear your Karate T
underneath or any solid black t-shirt you may have at home.
So remember, as of Tuesday, September 5th, all students
must again wear their Karate Gi's. If you have ANY
questions, let us know.
Thank You!

The entire
month of September is "Bring a Friend" to Karate Month! You
may invite a friend of yours to attend Karate with you for ONE FULL
WEEK for FREE!
If your friend is under 18 years of age, then he/she
must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for their FIRST
CLASS only. You do not need to notify us in advance, simply
tell them to come with you!
If your friend should happen to love Karate and decide
to join, you'll BOTH get a FREE Karate T-Shirt! You may ask
more than one friend if you happen to be one of the popular kids!
Have fun... see you and your friend in September!

UWMA again did a martial
arts demonstration at the annual D.A.R.E. program held at
Hamburg Town Park. We thank those who invited us, and we feel very
lucky to be directly involved in the D.A.R.E.
program. Master Sanchez, Sensei Butch, and most importantly the DEMO
TEAM, put on a Karate Demo for DARE at
the Hamburg Town Arena.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is something special to
us, since it helps educate kids to avoid dangerous aspects of life
through hands on education. At UWMA, we firmly believe in
educating the mind as much as the body, as seen in our programs like
"Stranger Danger" and "Who Am I".
There are a lot of things kids have to be aware
of these days, and D.A.R.E. gets our full support. I (Sensei
Butch) am a father of three young ones myself, and as a parent I am
thankful for such programs.
Special Thanks go to the members of the DEMO team and
their PARENTS for helping make this demo a huge success and for
supporting good causes like D.A.R.E. |

Last Years "Project Actions" Kick-A-Thon was a huge success, and we
would like to give you an update. The monies raised from the
event were to sponsor financially challenged individuals and allow
them to participate in martial arts.
We are happy to announce that a person was
selected at our Dojo for sponsorship, and their dues are being paid
by project action for one year. The individual, who will
remain anonymous, is very grateful and well deserved.
Thanks again to all who participated!
