American Freestyle Karate (AFK) is blend of many popular styles of martial arts.  The most “effective” elements of styles such as Issyun Ryu or Kempo are strategically blended with other arts, including Master Sanchez’s own free-form kata’s, to create one of the most well rounded martial arts programs  seen to date.  From basics to black belt, you will be instructed only by qualified adult black belt instructors.  Students will become proficient in such weapons as the Arnis sticks, long Bo and Sai, as well as modern street self-defense.

(as you can see in the pictures above, our instructors will train "with" you, not just bark out commands)

Clothing:  After 30 days, a white Karate Uniform (GI) is required to work out in these classes. You may purchase the GI anywhere you wish, although the pricing at United World Martial Arts (UWMA) is probably the best you will find anywhere.  All students are required to work out in bare feet, no socks or shoes allowed.  This is not only in honor of long standing traditions within the martial arts, but is also in the students best interest.  Bare feet provide the best all around traction and allow the instructor to better view the students’ foot positioning, making it easier to instruct  the student.

Equipment:  As training progresses, students will be required to purchase specific training equipment.   This will include such items as sparring gear and weapons. The instructor will notify the student what he/she is required to purchase at the time necessary. Again, as stated above, the student may purchase the equipment from an outside source as long as it meets UWMA requirements.  But be reminded,  the pricing on the merchandise at UWMA is going to generally be your least expensive option.

Promotions:  Belt promotions in most schools range as high as $100 or more.   At UWMA the fee is fixed at only $20 per belt promotion.  This fee covers the  basic costs that UWMA infers, including the new belt, certificate and registration.  Our  promise to you is that the cost will never increase for the student;  it is fixed at the cost at the time of the student’s registration.

Discounted or Free Lessons!  As a member of UWMA, you are automatically enrolled in our “Referral Program”.  This program is simple.  For each person who signs up for AFK and uses your name as their referral, you receive $5 off your monthly dues! Get two referrals, your monthly costs are reduced by $10, and three gets you $15 off and so on. There is no limit to this program, and as you can see, your lessons could possibly  reach $0.  You continue to receive the discounts as long as the students you referred maintain their memberships.  (NOTE:  “Family Plan” members must refer 4 students  before the discount takes effect.)
